Big Packages and Crimped Hair

Not going there…not going there…not going there…

Phew, that was close. But I’m honoring Mama Pea’s TWSS ban. I didn’t say it, so it doesn’t count.

When I walked in the door this evening, Lucas told me I had two packages waiting — it’s Christmas in January!

The first was a box I ordered back in December, from Scan Cafe. Scan Cafe is a really cool service that takes your photos and scans them to DVD (or any other format you choose). For those of us who were born in the Polaroid craze and went to college in the pre-Facebook days (gasp!), Scan Cafe is a great option to preserve those photos of kegs and eggs parties, beer pong victories, crimped hair graduations, family and more.

Don’t believe me on the crimped hair?

Whatevs. I was rocking the claddagh ring, too. It was a must-have in 1990. Who would want to lose pictures like this?

I also got a fun package from the “I Wear Your Shirt” Guys. They had one of those ideas that makes you KICK yourself for not thinking of it first. They wear a shirt of your choosing, take pictures, video and more and share it with their HUGE networks on Facebook and Twitter. The first day of the year costs $1. The second day costs 2, and so on.

Look, guys — I’m wearing YOUR shirt!

I’ve been away from the blog for a few days, so here’s a quick game of catch up. It includes beer flights and happy husbands:

Wow, my life is pretty good, huh?

I need your help! I’m working on a collection of my favorite Twitter links, because — I’m obsessed. Do you follow me? I’m looking for the tools that make it easier to get started, find people, take part in chats, etc. I actually made a little video to talk about using hashtags (I moderate a live chat every week) and I’m hoping to create a special page of resources for anyone who wants to learn more.

There are some audio issues, so go in with low expectations.

What do you like/dislike about Twitter? What do you use to make it easier?

  • Oh, yeah. And don't worry about the crimping- I have naturally curly hair that was a really odd sort of AFRO when I was a small child. Yeah. That was not the look I was going for.
  • You crack me up! So glad I found you on twitter :) Speaking of, I love your idea to put together some resources because let's face it- when it comes to social media, i'm mentally challenged. Or is it "socially challenged?" Either way- awesome! Sorry I can't really be of help there...but I had to say- you and your husband are adorable and I LOVE the pita pit! They make the BEST HUMMUS!

OMGoodness you made my day with the TWSS video! Best. Show. Evah.

Twitter? Love it. I have to keep myself from spending too much time on it because it is addictive. Have you downloaded tweetdeck? It helps me manage my tweets and tweetettes.
  • I like twitter because there are some amazing people on it. What I dislike is that I think sometimes people just use it to push their blogs.

i'm still getting a hang of twitter...and am still stumped by it sometimes. haha.

but love the crimped hair! i totally had that as a kid too (mom would braid my wet hair at night and let it out in the morning! LOL!)

Aahh crimped hair! I totally forgot about those unfortunate years. Aren't we all glad that the 90s ended :) I was a twitter fan for a while but now it seems like a hassle to keep track of another thing.
  • I used Twitter orginally to kill times and ended up making some friends. I also help to promote my blog and get information.
  • I need to go through my Twitter account and delete folks in whom I have no interest. When I started, I followed people I probably shouldn't have. But going through that is overwhelming...
  • May I just say, as I have said so many times before, you are awesome!

Twitter is hard to navigate for me. I always miss so many tweets when I don't log on and feel like I'm out of the loop.
